Vittorio Ghirelli

beginning

Vittorio Ghirelli was born on May 9, 1994 in Fasano, in the province of Brindisi. He began his career in Go-Kart at the age of 12, immediately winning the first victories. At the age of 13, in the KF3 category, a very young Vittorio won the 3rd place in the prestigious International Asia Pacific Championship (Macau). In the same year, he took 3rd place in the International Open Masters, KF3 category (Tony Kart / Iame). At the age of 14 he entered the KF2 category and became International Open Masters Champion 2009, and Italian KF2 Champion (Tony Kart / Vortex).

DEBUT IN SINGLE-SEATER & WORLD CHAMPION AUTO-GP

In 2010, at the age of 15, he made his debut in single-seaters, obtaining several podiums and excellent results in the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps and Formula Renaut 2.0 Eurocup championship. In the same year he made his debut in covered wheels, category GT3 at the prestigious 6h of Vallelunga driving a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 (Team AF Corse), paired with Giancarlo Fisichella and Lorenzo Casé. They conquered the 2nd overall and the 1st place category GT3. 2013 was a hugely successful year as it gets the title of World Champion of the Auto GP World Series (Team supernova), aboard Lola-Zytek – 3.4 Liters V8. He won two prestigious awards, the “Silver Plate” at the Donington Park circuit (fastest driver year 2013), and the “Casco d’Oro” Autosprint as “best single-seater driver”.

Debut in Tourism & Italian Champion

In 2016 Vittorio decided to start his career with the covered-wheel cars, carrying out several tests for the Audi Sport Italia teams with which he participates in the Italian GT Championship in 2017, obtaining the 5th place in the general classification category GT3 PRO (n.2 victories and n.5 podiums) driving the Audi R8 GT3 LMS. In 2018 he embraced a new project with electric powered cars becoming official Mercedes-Benz Roma driver for the Italian Alternative Energies Championship (Smart EQ fortwo e-cup). In 2018 he obtained the 3rd place, and the following year he graduated Italian Alternative Energies Champion 2019.

NASCAR PRO

In 2021 he debuted in the EuroNASCAR PRO category remaining loyal to Team Hendriks Motorsport. He gets the 3rd place in the general classification, just a step away from winning the title faded to the last race (Vallelunga) for a sudden break of the braking system, a few laps from the end. In 2022 he was hired by the debuting Team Not Only Motorsport, which leads to the top due to the lack of experience of the Team in the Championship, obtaining several podium finishes. However, he did not finish in the top 5 because of numerous withdrawals. In 2023 he was hired by Team Raceplanet of the Bleekemolen family. He gets N.3 Victories, n.7 podiums and N.2 pole position and fights until the last race for the EuroNASCAR PRO title, faded for a few points at the last race (Zolder – Belgium) due to a mechanical problem with the accelerator pedal. It ranks 3rd in the overall standings.
